OPEN DECKS CHAPEL ALLERTON

Join us for our first Summer Sessions event over the May Bank Holiday weekend, kicking off at 3pm and running right through until midnight. It’s the perfect excuse to meet fellow music lovers, jump on the decks, or simply settle in with a drink, a toastie, and a full day of quality tunes. And if the weather behaves itself, we’ll be firing up the hot food outside on the sun terrace — and knowing us, there’s every chance a DJ setup and a few speakers will mysteriously make their way outdoors too.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro, a bedroom DJ with neighbours who are thoroughly sick of hearing the same transitions, or a 50-something ex-raver clinging gloriously to your youth, you’re very welcome.

And just to be clear — despite the name, you absolutely do not need to be a DJ to come along. We welcome civilians too. Bring your mates, grab a drink, soak up the music, and if the mood strikes… have a little boogie.

Booking a DJ Slot

This month’s Open Deck session will start a few hours earlier than usual for our summer event. The first slot begins at 4:00pm, with the final slot running from 8:30pm, giving us 10 half-hour sets in total.

If you’d like to book a slot, the booking form will go live on Sunday 17th at 8:00pm.

We encourage all DJs to arrive early and enjoy the event, rather than just turning up for their set. Please note that we’re unable to reserve slots in advance — all bookings are first come, first served via the online form.

Equipment

We have two direct-drive turntables and a Pioneer XDJ RX3 all-in-one console. The turntables are connected to the Pioneer and there is no dedicated mixer. If you are using the Pioneer, please prepare your music using Rekordbox software: https://rekordbox.com/en/download.

We do have headphones but feel free to bring your own.

Music Style

Our main focus is on dance and electronic music — anything that lends itself well to mixing. That said, we're happy to hear some other styles, Hip Hop, Funk, Disco, Motown, Drum & Bass are all welcome.

We draw the line at chart music, country and western, death metal, K-Pop... we've probably missed a few genres but you get the picture!
